Austin Texas is known for its bars and great nightlife.  Bars in this “Live Music Capitol of the World” frequently feature live music.  There are literally hundreds of bars ranging from the posh to the quaint to the rather run down.

Sixth Street is home to numerous bars and clubs.  Many of these are housed in historic buildings hailing from Austin’s beginnings in the 1800s.  P.D. Riley’s Pub and Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar are among the many interesting Sixth Street bars.  Other music venues include the Parrish Friends and the Stage on Sixth a recently opened dance hall.

Sixth Street nightlife branches off onto Fourth and Fifth Streets as well as other neighboring streets.  La Zona Rosa on Fourth Street has great music and old-fashioned appeal; it includes an outdoor stage area. Halcyon also on Fourth Street offers a full bar and a great selection of coffee food and deserts.   One 2 One Bar on Lamar is billed as the “little bar with the big deck” and has been voted the city’s best outdoor bar in a City Search poll.  Antone’s on Fifth Street is a legendary blues venue.

Other areas of Austin also offer great nightlife. Gloria’s Restaurant and Bar is located in the Domain Mall and offers Salsa Dancing every weekend. The menu includes Mexican and Salvadorian favorites.

Cedar Door on Brazos Street has been a favorite bar for politicians and lawyers for many years.

Elysium on Red River Street is many Austinites’ favorite dance club. Moonshine Bar and Grill is another great spot on Red River.
