Out of 100 Texas cities surveyed Austin ranks number six in the best cities for middle-class families to live.  This is according to a recent survey placed by SimpleThriftyLiving.com a site that gives information about living thrifty and saving money while shopping and traveling.

The survey was based a few critical factors such as socioeconomic characteristics of a city family income levels and average expenses for a family.

Austin received their high-ranking score by having the best estate taxes unemployment rate and affordable college education options. Equally impressive was the income score of 7.66 on their scale.

This is no surprise considering the median income level in Austin is $63717 compared to the rest of the state of Texas which averages out at $57051.
