Officials have confirmed that Austin Texas will be home of the U.S. Army’s new Futures Command.  Chosen from five different cities serving as the finalist that was narrowed down from an inital list of 150 different cities.  U.S. Army officials sited that Austin would provide a great quality of life a desirable cost of living affordability and a strong entrepreneurial spirit as being the basis for their choice.

The U.S. Army Futures Command primary job will be working on military modernization techniques. This new location is planned to address shortcomings of the current acquisition system and is the best example of the commitment of efficiency and lethality of force according to Army Secretary Mark T. Esper. The new Austin facility will be managed by a four-star general and will have a staff of about 500 military personnel.
