Whether students are interested in medicine the arts or creating their own business there’s a place for them at one of AISD’s 130 campuses. From early college high schools to entrepreneurial programs the district works to ensure all students have the support and the skills they need to succeed.
It’s not just about academics. Teachers are trained in social and emotional learning and mindfulness is practiced throughout the district. AISD is also the nation’s largest school district to earn the Anti-Defamation League’s No Place for Hate designation.
Our mission is to provide a high-quality comprehensive educational experience that is challenging and instills in all students the desire to a have a positive effect on their world. Here are just a few of AISD’s offerings from Pre-K to college prep:
Early Childhood
Research shows that starting school earlier gives students a head start and greatly improves their chance for success. That’s why AISD welcomes the littlest learners with half-day Pre-K for 3-year-olds and full-day Pre-K for 4-year-olds.
Elementary Schools
AISD offers both two-way and one-way dual-language programs at many elementary schools. Learning a language positively affects the structure and cognitive functions of the brain and learning respect for other cultures and languages leads to friendships that cross language boundaries.
Middle Schools
Many AISD middle schools offers Advancement Via Individual Determination a system that teaches study skills and strategies to prepare for college and life. Additionally students may choose to attend one of the district’s many magnet or specialty programs which include fine arts humanities and law single-gender and green tech.
High Schools
Students can graduate from high school with a free associate degree by taking college-level courses for credit through the district’s Early College High School Program. Students may also immerse themselves in foreign languages by participating in the International Baccalaureate program or by taking Arabic Korean or Vietnamese classes.
There are many educational choices available to families today and it’s our goal for Austin families to make AISD their No. 1 choice.
