River Place Nature Trail
River Place Nature Trail has three trails that are open from dawn to dusk seven days a week Monday thru Sunday. The trail is dog friendly and roughly 5.5-6 miles round-trip. This trail is good for experienced hikers with high elevations. Consider joining Friends of River Place Trail and help keep the trails in good order.
St. Edwards Park
St. Edwards Park is a hidden park that is perfect for trail runners hikers and dog owners. It has several trails and wide open space to enjoy the hill country views and stretches about 2.9 miles long. Be sure that you check out the stream running through the middle and the beautiful cactus’ spread throughout the area.
Turkey Creek Trail
Turkey Creek Trail is a trail located near Austin that features a river for hikers to enjoy. The 2.9 mile long trail is moderately trafficked and is open year-round. Dogs are welcome but keep them on a leash and parking is limited. Come out and enjoy the nature at Turkey Creek Trail.
Walnut Creek Trail
Walnut Creek Trail is a 1.3 mile loop trail located near Austin. The trail has been rated moderate on the scale for experience level. The trail offers a number of activities and is open year-round. Visitors can bring their dogs but please keep on a leash!
Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve
The Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve has a beautiful trail that is accessible daily from sunrise to sunset. They offer educational events guided hikes for public or school groups and even have classroom space. Visitors can hike 2.5 miles and visit the Wild Basin Creative Research Center.
