The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) was established by Travis and Williamson Counties in 2002 as the state’s first regional mobility authority. Our mission is to develop, deliver, operate, and maintain safe, high-quality roadways and related transportation solutions.
The agency operates under Chapter 370, Regional Mobility Authorities, of the Texas Transportation Code, representing the Texas Legislature’s vision to allow local communities greater flexibility in meeting their transportation needs. The Mobility Authority implements innovative and sustainable transportation options to enhance quality of life and economic vitality in Central Texas.
The agency operates 183A Toll, 290 Toll, the 71 Toll Lane, the MoPac Express Lane, the 45SW Toll Road, and the 183 Toll Road. The agency is also constructing the 183A Phase III, 183 North Mobility Projects. The Mobility Authority is committed to incorporating shared use paths, sidewalks, and cross-street connections whenever feasible alongside roadway projects. To date, the agency has more than 70 miles of shared use paths or sidewalks in place or planned across the region.
The Mobility Authority works closely with regional partners to improve network safety, reliability, and sustainability. The agency is partnered with Travis County as part of their Capital Improvement Program to expedite eight different non-tolled improvements and upgrades to facilities within Travis County. The agency also continues to support regional programs and partners, including CapMetro, CARTS, Commute Solutions, and Movability, in promoting better commuting practices, such as helping commuters find carpools and transit opportunities.
