Last month Samsung Electronics announced that they will be moving their current research and development operation to a new location in southwest Austin.  The move will give Samsung almost twice the square footage of their current facility with 112000 total square feet.  This future facility will be housed in the new 5-story San Clemente building located on Loop 360 near Westlake Drive.

Currently there are about 300 people employed at the R&D facility on FM 2222 but this move will allow for future growth and future job openings.  Samsung is currently hiring for chip designers who would work in the new building when it opens later this year.
