When you move to Austin there are plenty of great places to make your homecoming feel complete.  Check out this list of pet adoption facilities in Austin:

 

Austin Animal Center

Austin Animal Center provides shelter to more than 16000 animals annually plus animal protection and pet resource services to Austin and Travis County. They accept stray and owned animals regardless of age health species or breed.  Animal Services has numerous programs and partnerships designed to help pets in the shelter in the community and in your home.

 

Austin Humane Society

The Austin Humane Society (AHS) is the longest standing no-kill shelter in Austin. The team at AHS transforms the lives of animals and the people who love them through life-saving programs that find animals homes serve animals and people in times of crisis prevent future homelessness though spay and neuter and engage the community to be a part of the solution. Each year they serve around 11000 animals thanks to the generosity of our donors.

 

Austin Pets Alive!

Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping to Keep Austin No Kill. Since 2008 APA! has saved over 60000 dogs and cats from being killed at Central Texas shelters.

 

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue is a no-kill shelter just off of Hwy. 71 serving the lake and hill counrty.  They hold regular adoption events at the Bee Cave PetSmart Angel’s Ice House on Tomlinson’s in the heart of the Lakeway area.  Come and adopt an animal and expand your family as you become a new Texas resident.

 

House Rabbit Resource Network

House Rabbit Resource Network is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located near Austin Texas and they are dedicated to improving the lives of domestic rabbits by: Educating people about caring for companion rabbits as house pets facilitating rabbit rescues and adoptions and promoting rabbit advocacy.

 

PAWS Shelter of Central Texas

PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (PAWS) was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization providing care and love to homeless abandoned and abused animals in Central Texas. We are a No Kill shelter that believes in second chances! At PAWS companion animals are given medical attention care and love for however long it takes for us to find them a loving home.

 

Texas Humane Heroes

Texas Humane Heroes is a No Kill private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with dog and cat adoption centers in Leander (Greater Austin Metropolitan area) and Killeen Texas. Established in 1979 Texas Humane Heroes enhances the lives of pets and people through adoption availability of our low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics as well as family-friendly community events.

 

Thundering Paws

Thundering Paws is a no-kill non-profit animal sanctuary serving the Dripping Springs Hays County and Central Texas communities. Their mission is to offer a safe haven for cats who are homeless neglected injured or abused. They help any other animal to the best of our ability. They accomplish this with our hospice our foster program adoptions TNR and by helping people to help animals.

 

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is the only shelter solely devoted to the lost and abandoned animals of Round Rock Cedar Park Hutto Leander and Williamson County. This shelter has dogs and cats up for adoption and offers other animals like birds rodents rabbits and reptiles when available.
